How did I visit so many places in one day............well In Germany’s Europa theme park. This theme park is a European version of Disney Land with each ride being situated in a different country, and adopting that theme.
So that we could get to Germany nice and early we woke up at 6.00am. We then drove to the Switzerland boarder and waited in line to cross into Germany. I was extremely excited for me as it was my first border crossing. To me it all seemed unreal that we had only driven an hour and we were about to cross into Germany. In Tasmania you are not even half way to Launceston after a hours drive.
However I was a bit disappointed as the boarder security must have deemed my host family and I trust worthy as they let our car pass without even checking our passports.
One could most defiantly tell we where in Germany with out even having to lookout the window. All you had to do was feel the rush of air pass you face as the car started to zoom off to Europa park at a legal speed of 160km...........actually once you are on a highway in Germany there is no speed limit so if our car had been doing 400km hour we would have been perfectly legal.
After my eyes got used to the speed we kept on driving for an hour until we reached Europa park.
The day was starting to get warm and we knew that all the people would rush to the water rides around lunch time.....so we headed for the water first up to beat the crowds. So off we walked through France, Russia, tally ....all the way to Portugal to go on the Atlantic super splash.
Once at the ride my host parents took one look at the cart plummeting down into the water, and politely declined joining Benjamin and I on the ride.
We were right to come here first as there were not many people so we were able to get front row seats in the cart.
Our cart went up the roller coaster, and then went down so fast into the water that it made a huge spray of water that left you completely drenched and on a total watery high.
After we dried off a bit We split up, the parents went off to have a coffee and a relax, while Benjamin and I went on as many roller coasters as we could in the hour we had before we had to meet the parents. My favourite was the EuroMeter.
After many a roller coaster we met then parents and went and watched an ice skating show in Switzerland.
This was just beautiful and no matter how many times people spun on one foot, so fast that one could not see where the person ended and the blear of their body started , I was still amazed at how wonderful it all looked.
After our ice-skating treat we went off as a family and had a bite to eat in France.
After some French fires were consumed we all went on a family water rafting trip in Scandinavia.
As we were leaving this ride we walked pasted spinning willow-patter tea cups. I was so excited to see these as they reminded me of my Mum and how she missed out on going on the tea cups in Disney Land. So Just for mum I dragged Benjamin on the tea cups and we went off on a spin.
Once we regained our balance it was off to the pirate roller coaster...which was just wonderful. This roller coaster was not built for speed but more as a pirate world experience. There where huge puppets and projected faces everywhere creating a pirate world.
After the pirates and the tea cups we all trundled off to Spain to the Arena where we saw a show of horse back riding, jousting and horse acrobatics...all set around the `quest for the holy grail`. This was just an amazing show and was so enjoyable. We sat totally fixated on these hoses and all the tricks the horse and people were doing.
Now I have always wanted a knight in shining armour....I just never knew I would be one.....
After the arena we went off in search of water, because seeing as the arena was built like the ones in Italy there was no roof and at midday the sun in Germany is really strong and warm....I was so happy that I had brought my hat with me.
So after finding water, going on a few more rides.. .such as the Poseidon in Greece and the jungle tour in Africa, Benjamin and I decided that for our last ride of the day we would go on the huge `Big Silver Star roller coaster` to finish our day off on a high.
So after we waited in line for 30 minutes (so we could get from row seats) We went on the biggest roller coaster I have ever seen. We hopped in our cart and went up and up and up and up....and let me remind you what goes up most defiantly comes down and on the Silver star .....it comes down extremely fast.
After we safely put our feet back on the ground we met up with My host parents and all headed back to the car. We drove until we reached the boarder.....and once again we missed out on having our passports checked. I said good bye to Germany and we drove home.
