Turnfest
As you know I have joined the fitness community club here in my town Niederbipp. This club is part of an organisation of clubs in Switzerland. So on Thursday (which was a public holiday in Switzerland) I went on the Fitness club outing….a Turnfest (So a party with all the other fitness clubs whoa re in the organisation in Switzerland)
I met the people who are in my club at the train station. I also met a lot of new people. This is because I go to fitness on a Monday and other people go on a Friday.
We then all caught the train together and went off to the fest. We had to change trains….so while we were waiting we went to a café and all had a coffee and had a chat. This was nice, the people were really friendly and all talked to me in High German.
We then hopped on another train to continue our journey. Here people in the tone fest opened up bottles of wine and started to drink. I found this really odd as it was only 9am in the morning. We then arrived at the station, hopped off the train and continued on our way. We now just had to walk 30 minutes to the fest. This normally wouldn’t be a problem, however at his current stage the heavens had opened up and it was raining like crazy. I did have on a rain jacket, however it was still cold went and slippery…but good fun.
We then arrived at the fest. (A huge tent….. a pavilion style thing in the countryside).
It was really nice as some of the girls (well actually basically all the younger girls …..so the girls who were not 50) in the fitness club took me under their wing and looked after me. This was so nice of them as I had never met them before as they all have been going to the fitness club on a Friday.
We danced and just had fun. After a lot of dancing and a lot of Alcohol consumed by some members of the fitness club (most older members but a few young people were also rather merry) it was time to go back to Niederbipp.
We walked back to the train, hopped on the train and started to go home. We arrived at our stopped and all got off. The next part of our day was to have afternoon tea at a family from the fitness clubs house, this also happened to be the house of some of the girls (18 year old twins in fact) who took me under their wing.
We walked to the house and it was so nice to be inside in the warmth. We then sat around the talked and ate. The most of the girls had to go home so I was left there with a bunch of very nice but extremely drunk Swiss adults. This was a bit of a interesting situation to be in as they asked me all of these questions…just being nice of course……however Drunk German is not a language I can understand. This was extremely hard as all their words were all slurred and I had no idea what they were trying to ask me. They then all go frustrated as I didn’t know what they were saying. ………and being a bit drunk they got a bit carried away and started to yell and bang the table ..etc. And to be honest this was not much fun at all.
I was then saved by one of the girls (it was her house) and we went upstairs and watched movies until it was time for me to be driven home (by a adult who had come later and was sober). So this day was a mixture of fun…and interesting situations
